Southern Loess Hills Welcome Center

Located at the bustling junction of Interstate 29 and Highway 2 in southwest Iowa, the Southern Loess Hills Welcome Center serves as an essential gateway for travelers journeying through the tri-state corridor connecting Iowa, Nebraska, and Missouri. Designed to highlight the region’s unique natural and cultural heritage, the welcome center offers visitors an engaging introduction to the Southern Loess Hills, one of Iowa’s most striking and ecologically significant landscapes.

The project included the installation of a series of interpretive displays that introduce visitors to the area’s history, geography, and biodiversity. These panels help travelers understand the geological uniqueness of the Loess Hills—formed by windblown silt deposits—and the importance of preserving this rare landscape. Situated in such a high-traffic area, the displays needed to be not only visually compelling but also durable enough to withstand heavy public use and the challenges of Iowa’s varied climate.

To achieve that, the project team selected iZone Imaging’s Custom High-Pressure Laminate (CHPL) panels for their superior durability, fade and scratch resistance, graffiti protection, and 10-year warranty. iZone’s materials are also impervious to moisture and thermally stable, making them the ideal solution for long-term outdoor installations.
