Nueces Delta Preserve
The Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program – Nueces Delta Preserve protects a variety of habitats and is known for the quality of its conservation and land management practices. The Preserve is located at the north end of Nueces Bay near Odem, Texas, and includes approximately 11,500 acres of highly productive wetlands, open water, islands, prairie, and river and bay shorelines. The Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program (CBBEP) bases its Delta Discovery education program here, offering a variety of free field experiences and workshops to students, teachers, and the community. The Preserve is also the site of several research stations and conservation and habitat restoration projects.
In 2017 the Coastal Bend was hit by Hurricane Harvey. During that storm, signs along HWY 77 were destroyed from the high winds. Over time other CBBEP signs had deteriorated and faded from exposure to the elements. With students, teachers, and researchers frequenting the property, there became a need for signs to facilitate access and enhance the visitor experience. Highway signs were developed to assist visitors with identifying the entry gate, and directional signs were designed to help visitors navigate within the property. Due to its resistance to moisture, extreme durability, easy maintenance, and 10-year warranty, iZone’s High Pressure Laminate was the material of choice for these new signs.
“CBBEP would like to thank all that participated in the project. All the way from the team at IZone, our design team, installation contractor, to the freight company that safely delivered our signs! Knowing that these signs have a proven history of standing up to the elements without fading or deteriorating was a leading factor in our decision to use iZone products.”
