Griffith Quarry Park

The Griffith Quarry Park Improvement Project is an ambitious and transformative undertaking aimed at revitalizing an integral piece of California's history while creating a modern recreational space for the community. Nestled in Penryn, California, this project focuses on the rejuvenation and preservation of the Griffith Quarry, a historic site that played a pivotal role in providing granite for construction projects, including the State Capitol Building in Sacramento.

The heart of this project lies in the restoration of the quarry itself, which will serve as a central attraction. It will not only showcase the rich geological and industrial heritage of the region but also provide a unique outdoor educational experience for visitors. The park will feature interpretive displays, walking trails, and observation decks, allowing people to explore the geological wonders that abound here.

Beyond its historical significance, the Griffith Quarry Park Improvement Project aspires to be a recreational haven for the community. Plans include the development of picnic areas, sports courts, and a playground, providing a multitude of activities for families to enjoy. Moreover, there will be an emphasis on environmental sustainability, with native landscaping and eco-friendly features integrated into the park's design.

By joining forces with the Penryn community, Placer County Parks and Museums, and Helix Environmental, a master plan was developed with an estimated completion date of mid 2024. For the interpretive signage, iZone's CHPL was chosen because of specification as a durable and long-lasting sign solution, impervious to water and thermally stable.

This visionary project, with its blend of history, education, and recreation, promises to be a cherished asset for both residents and tourists. It embodies the spirit of preserving the past while creating a vibrant and sustainable future for the Penryn community.
