Case Study | Endeavour's Final Move

The California Science Center has unveiled its latest exhibit, showcasing the space shuttle Endeavour in its final home. This monumental move marks a new chapter in the shuttle's storied legacy, inviting visitors to explore the wonders of space exploration through an immersive and educational experience.

Endeavour's final move to its new display at the California Science Center has been a much-anticipated event. The exhibit provides a closer look at one of NASA’s most iconic shuttles, detailing its missions and contributions to space exploration. Visitors can now walk beneath the shuttle and experience its grandeur up close, gaining insights into the engineering marvels that make space travel possible.

The exhibit’s design, led by  the Science Center’s George Carpenter, emphasizes both aesthetics and durability. A key component of the exhibit is the use of Custom High-Pressure Laminate (CHPL) for exterior signage. These signs, supplied by iZone Imaging, were specifically chosen for their ability to withstand varying temperatures and environmental conditions, ensuring that the exhibit remains informative and visually appealing for years to come.

The CHPL signage serves as both wayfinding tools and interpretive guides, helping visitors navigate the exhibit and gain a deeper understanding of Endeavour's history. With detailed explanations and engaging visuals, the signs enrich the overall visitor experience, making the story of space exploration accessible to all.

This exhibit is the result of a collaborative effort between the California Science Center, George Carpenter, and iZone Imaging. Each played a pivotal role in bringing the vision of Endeavour’s final move to life, ensuring that the exhibit not only honors the shuttle’s legacy but also inspires future generations of explorer
