Empire State Trail

The Hudson River Valley Greenway is a unique NYS agency tasked with preserving the natural, cultural, scenic, and recreational resources of the Hudson River Valley. In 2017, New York State began work on the Empire State Trail. This walking and bicycling trail spans 750 miles from New York City through the Hudson and Champlain Valleys to Canada, and along the Erie Canalway Trail from Buffalo to Albany. The trail connects diverse urban and rural communities and runs through the state’s iconic and historic landscapes.

The Empire State Trail was completed in December of 2020, with 180 miles of new trails constructed, plus improvements to existing trails and on-road sections to complete the 750-mile route. The state committed $200 million to complete a total of 58 projects along the route. In all, the State of New York estimates 8.6 million people will enjoy the Empire State Trail yearly. The trail welcomes bicyclists, walkers and runners of all ages and abilities to encourage healthy lifestyles and build supportive communities.

In collaboration with the Hudson River Valley Greenway, iZone helped create signage installed at 50 gateways and trailheads along the Empire State Trail, as well as interpretive panels along newly constructed rail-trails.  iZone’s Custom High Pressure Laminate has the durability to withstand the outdoors and will be enjoyed along the trail for many years to come.
