Heber-Kamas Ranger District

The Heber-Kamas Ranger District is located along the southwestern edge of the Uinta Mountains and the eastern side of the Wasatch Mountains. Increased visitor use, coupled with the ever reduced Forest Service budget, have limited the District’s ability to keep up with sign inventory and maintenance. As a result visitors have had difficulties navigating and are more likely to go off-trail and venture down user-created  routes. The Forest Service has missed opportunities to educate the public on State and Federal rules and regulations, and stewardship principles such as Tread Lightly, and Leave No Trace.

Trailhead information was sparse, the maps were too small and often so badly faded they couldn’t be read. Information panels are time consuming to design and the District wanted to purchase something that would last a long time. The Ranger District of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, recommended iZone CHPL panels to the Heber-Kamas Ranger District for their new information panels.

Kiosks with a new design have been installed along with nine new information panels ordered from iZone. Plans are underway to continue to update and renew sign systems throughout the District with iZone Custom High Pressure Laminate Panels.

“We chose iZone to print these panels knowing that the panels would be exposed to elements and we wanted them to last as long as possible. These panels will be used by visitors at Trailheads, for hikers, bikers and horseback riders and for motorized trails (used by ATV/UTV/OHVs). Members of the iZone team made sure that the maps and images would be sharp, colorful and high resolution.”
