Big Lake Visitor Center
The town of Big Lake can be found between the High Plains and Edwards Plateau regions of Texas. Named after a lake that was once spring-fed but has since dried out, the town has a population of 3,266 (2020). Big Lake is known for its history as an oil town and was established in 1911.
In 2022, the Big Lake Chamber of Commerce building was remodeled to add a new visitor center. Upgrades include exhibits that share the history of Big Lake and Reagan County from the first settlers to the present. The exhibits are interactive and informative. As part of the remodel, the Chamber of Commerce worked with Museum Arts to design and install a mural to wrap the corner of the building’s front entrance.
Since the mural would be outdoors, Museum Arts needed an extremely durable material to withstand the West Texas sun. iZone Imaging’s CHPL panels were chosen because they are impervious to moisture, thermally stable, and come with a 10-year warranty.
“The color reproduction is always very impressive. The mural really ‘’lights up’’ an otherwise industrial, muted color, building facade.”
